All Packed and Ready to Go!

The first stop on my travels is Belize. I hear it’s a fantastically gorgeous place and I can’t wait to see it myself. With beaches, coral reef, snorkel/scuba, rainforest, cave tubing, Mayan ruins, and parasailing, the itinerary for the week is looking pretty packed… but with fun and relaxing stuff. My awesome sisters got me a GoPro for my birthday, so I’m definitely excited for sharing some cool footage with everybody.

I just finished packing up my new 45L Deuter backpack, with a bit of room to spare. I really like this pack so far, it juuuust fits in the overhead bin, has enough room for all my clothes, and is legit comfortable to carry as well. Packing for this leg of my travels is a lot easier than it will be for Peru, since we’re staying at a resort and not really roughing it. I’m basically just bringing bug spray, sun tan lotion, swimming trunks, a few pairs of shorts, and some t-shirts. My initial goal of not bringing any checked luggage from Boston is really paying off for me now, cause now I’ve got tons of space for souvenirs on the way back (let me know if there’s anything you want me to pick up for you =P).

It also helps that I was able to get a lot of last minute preparations done yesterday as well. I stopped in at the bank to get some small bills (cause a lot of places in Belize will actually accept USD!) and got a pin number activated for my chase sapphire preferred card so I can get some foreign-transaction-fee-free cash for everywhere else. I rounded out my first aid kit at the pharmacy kit with anti-nausea medicine, anti-itch cream, and anti-diarrheals–Hopefully I won’t need any of it but better safe than sorry, eh?

The only thing I’m not really excited about right now is the actual act of traveling itself. We’re up at like 5 to be on the bus to the airport by 6 and then arriving at the resort probably around 4pm for nearly 12 hours of travel time. Right now I’m just telling myself to imagine the sand and the ocean, hahaha.
